What does ♉ mean?

♉ is Taurus, the bull: a circle for the animal’s head topped with an upturned arc for its horns. It is the second sign of the tropical zodiac, covering birthdays from about 20 April to 20 May.

The constellation behind the sign is one of the easiest to find in the northern winter sky, with the orange star Aldebaran as the bull’s eye and the Pleiades cluster on its shoulder. The glyph itself is simple enough that it survives in almost any font; if you need it to stay as black text instead of an emoji tile, add the text variation selector U+FE0E after it. People also use ♉ as a quick label for May birthdays or Taurus-themed jewellery and prints.
