What does ♐ mean?
♐ is Sagittarius, the archer, and the glyph is simply his arrow: a diagonal shaft pointing up and to the right with a short crossbar. In classical imagery the archer is a centaur drawing a bow. Sagittarius covers about 22 November to 21 December.
When you look towards the constellation Sagittarius you are looking towards the centre of our galaxy, which is why the region is so rich in star clouds and nebulae. In text, don’t confuse ♐ with an ordinary arrow such as ↗: an arrow gives a direction, while ♐ names a sign. Most phones show ♐ as a purple emoji tile, like the other zodiac characters.
