What does ♏ mean?

♏ is the sign of Scorpio, the scorpion. It is shaped like the letter m with an arrow on its final stroke, and the arrow is read as the scorpion’s raised stinger. In tropical astrology it applies to about 23 October to 21 November.

Unicode names the character SCORPIUS, the Latin name astronomers use for the constellation, while astrologers call the sign Scorpio. Both refer to the same ♏. The constellation is prominent in southern-hemisphere and summer skies, with the red supergiant Antares at the scorpion’s heart. When typing it in the Character Viewer or emoji panel, search for “Scorpius” if “Scorpio” finds nothing.
