What does ₩ mean?

₩ is the sign of the won, the currency of South Korea (KRW) and North Korea (KPW). It is a W with two horizontal strokes. It goes before the number: ₩10,000. In Korean text the word 원 after the number (10,000원) is just as common.

Like the yen in Japan, the won sign has a keyboard quirk: Korean fonts draw the backslash as ₩, so Windows paths can look like C:₩Users. The underlying character is still the backslash. On iPhone, touch and hold $ on the 123 page to find ₩.
