What does ₫ mean?

₫ is the sign of the Vietnamese đồng (ISO code VND). It is a lowercase đ with a line underneath. In Vietnamese it follows the number, and a dot groups the thousands: 50.000 ₫ or 50.000đ. Because prices run into the tens of thousands, shops often shorten them to “50k”.

Vietnamese keyboard layouts on Windows and phones include ₫, and Vietnamese input methods such as Telex produce it too. The plain letter đ is also widely used as a stand-in, and readers understand both.
