What does ﷼ mean?

﷼ is a single-character ligature of the Arabic word rial (ريال). It lives in the Arabic Presentation Forms block, which exists mainly for compatibility, and it is associated with the Iranian rial (IRR). It has also been used for the Saudi, Omani and Yemeni rials.

Because it is a presentation form, many fonts draw it very differently, and screen readers may not announce it well. In Arabic and Persian text, writers usually spell out ريال or use the ISO code, such as IRR or SAR, which is clearer for international readers.
