What does ♄ mean?
♄ is the symbol of Saturn, the ringed planet. It is often described as the scythe or sickle of the god Saturn (the Greek Kronos), with a cross on its handle, and historians also link it to an abbreviation of the name Kronos in Greek horoscopes.
In alchemy ♄ meant lead, the heaviest and slowest of the seven classical metals, just as Saturn was the slowest of the planets visible to the naked eye. Saturday is literally Saturn’s day. The text glyph has no rings, so if you want a picture of the planet itself in a chat, the emoji 🪐 (ringed planet) is the better choice; ♄ is right for charts, astrology and history of science.
