How to type the símbolo de pi (π)

Windows
- Hold Alt and type 227 on the numeric keypad. This older code (from code page 437) works in Notepad, Word and most desktop apps.
- In Word or Outlook, type 03C0 and press Alt + X. Alt + X converts the hex code before the cursor into the character, and back again.
- Press Win + R, type charmap and press Enter. Tick “Advanced view”, search for Greek Small Letter Pi, then Select and Copy. Character Map is built into every version of Windows.

What does π mean?
O símbolo de pi π é a décima sexta letra do alfabeto grego e representa a constante matemática universal que relaciona a circunferência de um círculo com o seu diâmetro, com valor aproximado de 3,14159. A consagração da notação ocorreu com os estudos pioneiros de Leonhard Euler no século dezoito.
