What does η mean?
Eta (η, capital Η) is the seventh Greek letter, pronounced “AY-tuh” or “EE-tuh”. Its capital looks like the Latin H, and the lowercase resembles an n with a long right leg. In engineering η is the usual symbol for efficiency (η = 0.92 for a motor that is 92% efficient) and for dynamic viscosity in fluid mechanics. Particle physicists also have an eta meson.
