What does ⚓ mean?

⚓ is a ship’s anchor. On maps and in travel content it marks harbours and marinas, and it is a classic emblem of navies and sailors. In early Christian art it was a symbol of hope, drawn from the “anchor of the soul” in the Letter to the Hebrews, which is one reason it remains popular in tattoos. The character has emoji presentation by default on most phones, so it usually appears in colour.

Common uses

  • Harbour and marina listings
  • Nautical and navy themes
  • Tattoo and jewellery descriptions meaning hope or stability
